How to Quickly and Easily Combine CSV Files

CSV

Have you had the following experience when combining a folder full of CSV files? Open a file, hit control A, hit control C, switch windows to the master file, find the point where you left off, hit control v, go back to the original file, close that file, select “no” when asked if you want to save the changes you made, locate the file in windows explorer, delete the file. Rinse and repeat for however many files you might have. Which could be up to 100 – or even more.

Does that sound like enough to make you insane? It is. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. You can use the windows platform to merge a folder of CSV files more easily than you think! It’s not complicated, and it can be done in a few easy steps. Just follow these instructions, and you’ll be combining CSV files like a pro in no time!

A lot of people think that merging CSV files is going to be difficult or complicated because you have to access the RUN dialogue. But nothing could be further from the truth! It’s actually incredibly simple. All you need to do is go to the start menu and choose run. Then type “cmd” into the dialogue box and hit enter. On the command line, type the command “copy” and then type the path where the CSV files you want to merge are located. Next type the path and filename where you want the merged file to appear. Hit enter, and windows will create a combined file! Easy as that.
